As part of the newly launched tripartite format of enhanced cooperation on European integration between Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, the heads of governments of the Associated countries signed a joint appeal to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. This was reported in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In the letter, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garybashvili and acting of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Aureliu Chokoi appealed to the European Commission with a request to develop a mechanism for the transfer of the EU vaccine to the countries of the "Eastern Partnership" initiative according to the same principle that was recently applied in the countries of the Western Balkans. Such an approach, in combination with other efforts of the partner countries, would help to avoid problems of vaccine shortages and ensure the necessary amount in a reasonable time.
The countries of the Associated Trio are convinced that only the combined efforts of all partners will help restore the balance in vaccination rates in the member states and partner countries of the EU, which in turn will help to overcome the epidemiological crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as soon as possible.
