The trust of Ukrainian citizens in President Volodymyr Zelenskyi decreased from 84% in December 2022 to 62% in December 2023, and trust in the Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny is 96% and 88%, respectively. At the same time, 59% of citizens simultaneously trust Zelensky and Zaluzhny.
These data are based on the survey results of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS) November 29 - December 9, 2023.
According to the results of the survey, downward dynamics are observed in the case of the president, but he retains the overwhelming trust of the Ukrainian public.
Yes, now 62% trust the president, and 18% do not. In December 2022, 84% trusted the president, 5% did not. Accordingly, if the balance of trust-distrust in December 2022 for the president was +80%, now it is +42%.
"That is, on the one hand, we see a significant decrease, but on the other hand, it remains unequivocally positive with a significant advantage of those who trust the president compared to those who do not trust him." sociologists note.
The Armed Forces retain absolute trust in society - as in December 2022, and now 96% trust the Armed Forces. In addition, 88% of Ukrainians trust Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny (only 4% do not).
Sociologists also point out that in the current situation it is important to understand how the fields of trust in the president and the commander-in-chief "intersect". In the table, the sum of all cells is 100% and shows, for example, what proportion of Ukrainians simultaneously trust the president and the commander-in-chief.
Thus, according to the table, the majority of Ukrainians, or 59%, trust both the president and the commander-in-chief at the same time. The share of Ukrainians who have polarized views is small. Yes, only 14% trust the commander-in-chief but do not trust the president, and only 1% trust the president but do not trust the commander-in-chief.
