Experts note that such a "dust storm" is a common meteorological phenomenon for the summer season. It is now a northern air flow carrying air together with sand from the Central Asian desert.
"It happens quite often in the summer. Maybe not every year, but over the past few years I remember at least 3-4 such cases," said Serhiy Stepanenko, rector of Odesa State Environmental University.
As of the morning of August 23, specialists of the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine checked the radiation background at 110 monitoring points throughout the territory of Odesa. All results are within the norm.
