DTEK does not predict the return of fan shutdowns during repair work at nuclear plants

DTEK does not predict the return of fan shutdowns during repair work at nuclear plants, since the shortage of light will be able to be covered by the import of electricity

This was said by the executive director of DTEK Dmytro Sakharuk on the air of the telethon.

According to him, during the active repair campaign at the end of the current month, in June and July, the capacity deficit should block the import of electricity in order not to apply fan shutdowns.

"I believe that due to the fact that there is an opportunity to cover the conditional deficit with imports, we will not reach fan shutdowns in the summer period. It could be a problem next winter, because we will enter it with a much smaller reserve of power or strength," he noted.

Sakharuk explained that in order to avoid blackouts, it is necessary, firstly, to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks, and secondly, to finance repair works. According to Sakharuk, 75% of CHP plants in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed due to Russian attacks.

"12 thousand kilometers of power lines need to be restored and repaired. Almost 4 thousand distribution substations need to be prepared for winter. These are crazy funds that need to be allocated. Therefore, outages are possible not now, but in the winter," he concluded.

Repair work should be carried out on all power units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, as they have been actively working during the winter.

At the same time, the executive director of DPEK noted that 4 units are already under repair, another one is undergoing repair for fuel replacement and in order to ensure normal and stable functioning of the system for the next heating season. As you know, DPEK plans to repair 28 power units by next winter.
