The Polish government signed an agreement with farmers to stop blocking the border with Ukraine at one of the checkpoints

Polish protesters, who blocked the "Medyka-Sheghini" crossing on the border with Ukraine, suspend their action

The Polish government concluded an agreement with farmers, which should put an end to the blocking of the Ukrainian border by Polish farmers. This is reported by the Polish publication Polsat News.

On Saturday, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Siekerski together with the head of the border Subcarpathian Voivodeship Tereza Kubas-Gul met with representatives of the farming movement "Shukana Wieś" ("Deceived Village"), who protested at the international checkpoint "Medyka - Shegyny".

"After the signing of the agreement, the protest at the checkpoint in Medyka is suspended for the period necessary for the implementation of legal and notification changes, and for the time necessary for the implementation of additional changes." - it says in the agreement.

According to the results of the meeting, Kubas-Gul announced the signing of an agreement with farmers, and the minister promised to satisfy all the demands of farmers. It's going about subsidies for corn in the amount of 1 million zlotys, an increase in lending by 2,5 billion zlotys, and maintaining the size of the agricultural tax at the level of 2023. According to the agreement, the blocking of the checkpoint in Medyka should be suspended. At the same time, until what time - they do not specify.

"We accept the demands of farmers for implementation, they are included in our budget proposals for 2024 regarding corn subsidies and loans. Of course, the budget is in the process of adoption. I am convinced that all this will be accepted by the Supreme Seimas, so I can be optimistic about the implementation of these two points."
- he said.

However, one of the leaders of the "Deceived Village" movement, Roman Kondrov, clarified to journalists that the organizers of the protest still plan to agree on this agreement among themselves. They plan to make a final decision on ending the protests during the evening.
