Ukraine has overtaken Russia in terms of the number of long-range kamikaze drones. The production of such "birds" is limited only by financing. An improved version of the MAGURA marine drone is also expected to appear. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov "Elephant" podcast on YouTube channel "Action".
"If we talk about the niche of "shaheeds" and long-range drones, I will simply quote Budanov. He said in an interview a few days ago that we have parity regarding these drones. I will say that it is true. We have up to ten manufacturers that produce long-range kamikaze drones," — he said.
Fedorov noted that the production of long-range drones is limited only by funding. But production continues to scale.
"Thousands of these drones can be produced. Thousands have already been produced, almost every day there is a fire somewhere on the territory of Russia. And it's scalable. In six months, we caught up with Russia in terms of numbers. Russia must understand that we will continue to scale up, and we have only just begun... we will destroy them while they attack our Ukraine with this shit (shahedas)." - said the official.
According to him, Ukraine's partners are also watching how drones unload air defense systems.
At the same time, he pointed out that Ukraine is also developing methods of radio-electronic warfare in order to plant "shaheds" and not just shoot them down.
Fedorov also announced the appearance of an improved version of the MAGURA marine drone. As the minister said, a "new technological leap" in development is expected in 2024.
"We cannot show, but there is a boat that is a certain platform and that is being prepared for new applications with new surprises." he noted.
What is known about the MAGURA marine drone
The V-type Maritime Autonomous Guard Unmanned Robotic Apparatus (MAGURA) was developed in Ukraine.
The drone is a multi-purpose unmanned surface ship of the new generation and can perform various operations: surveillance, reconnaissance, patrolling, search and rescue, mine countermeasures, naval protection and combat missions.
MAGURA V5 is 5,5 meters long and 1,5 meters wide. The cruising speed of the drone is at the level of 22 knots, and the maximum speed is 42 knots. The range of movement is 833 kilometers. It also has a mesh radio with an aerial repeater or satellite connection.
