The office of Polish President Andrzej Duda supports the idea of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyi regarding a meeting of the governments of the two countries to resolve the situation with farmers' protests. However, the border is called "not the safest place for this." This was stated by the State Secretary of the Office of the Polish President, Andrzej Dera interview TVN24.
According to the state secretary, the Polish leader supports this idea and "is doing everything in this spirit to help Ukraine." Dera did not say whether Duda was willing to be the "patron" of the meeting. However, he emphasized that a meeting between the Polish government headed by Donald Tusk and the government of Ukraine is now needed, and "most importantly - with EU representatives."
"The president is in favor of conducting this dialogue. This is the only way to solve this big problem. The problem is two-sided and very powerful." he emphasized.
Andrzej Dera says that the Ukrainian-Polish border is not the best place for negotiations. He believes that "it is better to speak in Warsaw or somewhere in Rzeszów, Lublin."
"Of course, these will not be any long discussions, because they cannot take place there. It's about a symbol. The idea is to clear the border.” Dera notes.
In addition, commenting on the situation at the border, the state secretary said that "farmers are fighting for their livelihood." He also emphasized that the protests are taking place because of the EU's policy towards farmers. After all, Ukraine and the European Union have different standards.
"Ukrainian people are fighting for their livelihood. The situation is fatal, because the determination on both sides is huge, and this problem simply needs to be solved." - he said.
