The United States will not allow Ukraine to lose a war with Russia. This was stated by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, at the beginning of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine ("Ramstein-20"), which takes place at an air base in Germany.
"We know that the conditions in which the Ukrainian army is fighting are extremely difficult. Unfortunately, the civilian population suffers from Russian drone attacks", he declared.
At the same time, Austin assures that the US will not back down from supporting Ukraine, which is not going to give up.
«Therefore, today our message is quite clear: The United States will not allow Ukraine to be defeated. This coalition will not allow Ukraine to be defeated. And the free world will not allow Ukraine to lose." Austin emphasized.
The head of the Pentagon reminded that last week the USA announced additional security assistance for Ukraine in the amount of 300 million dollars.
"This is an emergency measure to support Ukraine's most urgent needs in terms of air defense, artillery and anti-tank capabilities," Austin said.
According to him, the United States was able to provide this very important aid package due to finding saved resources.
"We remain committed to providing Ukraine with the resources it needs to counter the Kremlin's aggression," — Austin said.
The meeting in the Rammstein format is a series of diplomatic meetings of defense ministers of a dozen countries of the world. The purpose of the meetings is to synchronize and accelerate the provision of military aid to Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian aggression. In particular, the issue of supporting our country after the end of the war is raised.
