The Russian Federation reacted to the UN resolution on reparations

Kremlin Speaker Dmytro Peskov called the resolution of the UN General Assembly on reparations to Ukraine by Russia a formalization of the robbery of the Russian state. He said this at a briefing on Tuesday, November 15.

"The organizers of this process are trying to complete the robbery of our gold and currency reserves, which were illegally blocked. This is the formalization of this robbery using the UN platform. Russia is categorically against it," Peskov told reporters.

According to him, Russia will do everything possible to prevent the withdrawal of Russian reserves frozen by the West.

Peskov added that "against the background of the absolute contempt in the last six months of all the foundations and rules of private property, international law, and so on, of course, such raider methods of seizure prevail."

It will be recalled that on November 14, the UN General Assembly supported the resolution proposing to introduce a compensation mechanism for damages to Ukraine as a result of the war unleashed by Russia. The document was supported by 94 countries, 74 abstained, and 13 were against.

After that, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Russia will have to pay reparations to Ukraine for war damages — this is now part of the international legal reality.
