President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the State Order to singer, TV presenter and producer Andriy Kuzmenko (posthumously). The corresponding decree was signed by the head of state on August 17.
The title was awarded for the outstanding personal merits of Kuzma Skryabin in the formation of the national cultural space, a significant contribution to the development of national musical art, and many years of fruitful creative and public activity.
"With the beginning of the war, Andrey regularly traveled to the east and helped our defenders. Kuzma himself was a real defender of Ukraine. A warrior of words. His weapons are a pen, paper and a microphone. He healed the soul with songs, in other words, charged him for the fight. For a strong, prosperous and invincible Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.
As a reminder, Kuzma Skryabin died on February 2, 2015 in a road accident in the Dnipropetrovsk region, when he was returning from a concert in Kryvyi Rih in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Skryabin group. Andrey Kuzmenko would have turned 17 on August 52.
