Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko suggests that the capital of Ukraine may once again become a target for Russian ground forces. That's what he's about said in an interview BILD.
"Kyiv was and remains a target for Putin, because the capital is the heart of the country. But we are much better prepared for this than two years ago. If Putin makes such a decision, it will be a bloody decision." he emphasized.
Klitschko also called on the West to strengthen its support for Ukraine.
"We urgently need more air defense equipment, more anti-aircraft missiles!", said the mayor.
As BILD military correspondent Paul Ronzheimer writes, despite individual successes of the Russian army at the front and attacks on power plants, Kyiv is not ready to discuss negotiations or "freezing" the war, as proposed by the leader of the SPD parliamentary faction Rolf Mützenich in the Bundestag.
"This is a wrong attitude, instead we need a lot of support. We will not give any territories to Russia. This cannot be a compromise." Vitaliy Klitschko said.
