Ukraine needs real steps towards NATO membership, so Kyiv will not be satisfied with any other decision of the summit in Vilnius in July.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during a conversation with journalist Vadym Karpiak in his Instagram on Friday.
Speaking about Ukraine's ambitions at the Vilnius summit, Kuleba outlined scenarios unacceptable for Kyiv.
"If the Allies decide that they will simply confirm the open door policy for the 130th time in the matter of NATO membership in Vilnius, then this is an unacceptable outcome of the summit for Ukraine.
If they try to offer us some positive things in Vilnius regarding the deepening of cooperation with NATO, but at the same time do not take a single step towards Ukraine's membership in NATO, this is unacceptable," the minister said.
According to him, Ukraine will not adopt "any surrogate decisions" of the Vilnius summit.
The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that NATO in Vilnius should take a step towards Ukraine's membership in the military-political bloc. In the short term, he believes that the best guarantee of the security of our country is the acceleration of the supply of weapons and ammunition, as well as the adoption of a positive decision on the provision of F-16 fighter jets. According to the diplomat, appropriate work is currently underway to implement this issue.
"From now until the summit in Vilnius, these would be the best guarantees of Ukraine's security," the head of the MFA believes.
