The G7 countries urgently need to develop a way to confiscate frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.
This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, reports The Guardian.
"Our coalition (the "Big Seven" - ed.) urgently needs to find a way to unlock these frozen assets in order to support the ongoing resistance and the long-term recovery of Ukraine." said the minister.
She said that there is a strong international law, economic and moral argument in favor of confiscating the assets of the aggressor country.
According to Yellen, such a step would be a strong response to the unprecedented threat to global stability from Russia.
"This would make it clear that Russia cannot win by prolonging the war, and would encourage it to sit down at the negotiating table for a just peace with Ukraine." she added.
