Forbes published the 37th annual list of the world's billionaires

The new leader of the list is the only businessman whose capital exceeds 200 billion dollars

Falling stocks, wounded unicorns and rising interest rates made for a bad year for the world's richest people. Worldwide Forbs counted 2640 people with ten-figure fortunes, compared to 2668 last year. The total wealth of the planet's billionaires is now $12,2 trillion, which is $500 billion less than in March 2022. Almost half of the Forbes list is poorer than a year ago.

The richest man in the world 2023 according to the magazine Forbes became the president of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group of companies Bernard Arno ($211 billion).

So, Arno pushed the inventor and billionaire Elon Musk from the leading position of the rating.

For the first time, a French citizen topped the list of the world's richest people. Bernard Arnault runs LVMH, which consists of 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora. Over the course of a year, he increased his fortune by more than $50 billion to $211 billion, and became the only businessman whose net worth exceeded $200 billion this year.

Meanwhile, co-founder of six companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk lost more than $20 billion during the year and took second place in the rating. Now his capital is estimated at $180 billion.

In third place - the founder of the e-commerce giant Amazon Jeff Bezos with a capital of $114 billion.

On the fourth place - Larry Ellison is the chairman of the board, chief technical officer and co-founder of the software giant Oracle, in which he owns about 35%. Its capital is 112,3 billion.

In fifth place — Warren Buffett ($106,4 billion), known as the "Oracle of Omaha," who is one of the most successful investors of all time. Manages investment conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway.

The sixth step Bill Gates turned his fortune from the software company Microsoft into diversified holdings, including investments in zero-carbon energy. The capital is $104 billion.

The seventh step is occupied by Michael Bloomberg ($94,5 billion), who co-founded the financial information and media company Bloomberg LP in 1981.

On the eighth months — Mexico's richest man, Carlos Slim Helu, and his family control América Móvil ($93 billion), the largest Latin American mobile phone company.

Ninth place is held by Mukesh Ambani ($83,4 billion), who heads and runs Reliance Industries, which has interests in petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications and retail.

Tenth place is occupied by Steve Ballmer, a high-powered former Microsoft CEO who led the company from 2000 to 2014.
Now his capital is estimated at $80,7 billion.

In the ranking of Forbes billionaires this year only five Ukrainians, who have more than a billion dollars left:

Rinat Akhmetov (5,7 billion).
Viktor Pinchuk (2,1 billion).
Vadim Novinsky (1,4 billion).
Konstantin Zhevago (1,3 billion).
Gennadiy Bogolyubov (1,1 billion).
