The State Intelligence Service reports that by Independence Day, August 24, attacks by Russian hackers may intensify, and anyone can suffer from them.
How to protect gadgets from hackers:
1. Urgently change all weak passwords to important accounts;
2. Install all necessary program updates on the computer and smartphone;
3. Scan devices with antiviruses;
4. Remove all hacked pirated programs that were installed before;
5. Delete Russian programs, if you still use them;
6. Make backup copies of important documents and files;
7. Set up two-factor authentication where possible;
8. Do not download files from unknown sources.
9. Remember that links to phishing sites can be disguised as holiday greetings. Do not go to links received from strangers and even friends;
10. Pay special attention to e-mail, because hackers often attack by sending dangerous e-mails with hot topics.
11. Do not disclose or publish personal data and important information about yourself (passwords, phone numbers, pin codes, etc.).
12. Trust only information from official and verified sources. Do not fall for fakes and do not spread them.
13. If you see information about "material assistance for Independence Day", "additional payments for the holiday" or other similar promises, be sure to check it on the official resources of the authorities. Phishing attacks are often hidden behind similar messages. Do not participate in surveys that require you to provide confidential information or sensitive financial data (card PIN, CVV code, etc.).
14. If you downloaded a dangerous file on your work computer, report it to the information security service.
15. Share these tips with colleagues, family and friends.
