While the international community is moving towards an era of polarization and geopolitical division, Kazakhstan is launching a new dialogue platform to join efforts to solve key global challenges - Astana International Forum, organized by the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As stated in site of the event, the Forum will be held under the auspices of the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev June 8-9, 2023 in the capital of the country — Astana. "It will become a platform for dialogue between high-ranking officials of foreign governments, international organizations, business and academia in order to find ways to solve problems such as climate change, food shortages and energy security".
Commenting on the launch of the Astana International Forum, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted:
"Today, the whole world is facing historic challenges, the likes of which we have not had to face for several decades or more. These challenges create unprecedented pressure on the international community and challenge the principles of globalization and multilateralism."
The "Astana International Forum" was created to respond to these challenges, prioritizing cooperation as the main postulate of a functioning international system and order.
“Kazakhstan has a long history of developing constructive international relations, serving as a bridge between East and West – and although this policy has been severely tested in 2022, it has proven its resilience. We demonstrated the value of cooperation." — added Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev.
Through the Astana International Forum, the organizers hope to build new bridges and strengthen ties between countries, coming together to overcome the collective challenges facing the world and chart a new way forward – diplomatically, economically and politically.
The Astana International Forum was preceded by the success of the Astana Economic Forum. Its concept was developed to address four key global issues: foreign policy, security and sustainability, energy and climate, and economy and finance. These pillars form the basis of the Forum's mission - "Problem Solving through Dialogue: Towards Cooperation, Prosperity and Progress".
