The journalists found a document of the Bundeswehr in which the calculation of the allocated funds is given. Military support is paid from the "general financial management" budget. According to the records, Germany has allocated four billion euros for Ukraine for 2024.
3,1 billion has been allocated for aid measures already promised earlier. 770 million is reserved for the German Foreign Ministry and its assistance to Ukraine.
Thus, only 2024 million remain for new military projects in 120.
However, the need is much higher: the Ministry of Defense of Germany expects additional requests from Kyiv for assistance of 5,22 billion euros.
The document specifies what more funds should be allocated for:
— 880 million euros — for air defense;
— 675 million — for armored vehicles;
— 935 million — for protective equipment;
— 2,34 billion — to ensure the viability of equipment (repair, spare parts, logistics).
The final budget for 2024 should be adopted in mid-November. Until then, tense negotiations are likely to take place.
