Ukraine and Norway have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector as part of the Nansen support program, which provides Ukraine with assistance in the amount of 75 billion kroner ($5,4 billion). About this the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Energy Yaroslav Demchenkov, the head of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) Bord Vegar Solhjællem, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Marianne Kwan and the Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine Helen Sand Andresen.
It is noted that Norad is a body under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway, which considers options for activities in Ukraine aimed at supporting sustainable post-war recovery and providing operational support during the war.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian and Norwegian parties discussed how the planned assistance can contribute to the strengthening of the energy sector. It was also about the possibilities of involving the private sector in the green transformation and decentralization of the energy infrastructure.
"We continue work on stimulating the development of small distributed generation based on renewable energy sources, gas generation and energy storage systems. This will strengthen the stability of the energy system and allow businesses and households to reduce their dependence on centralized generation in the face of constant attacks on the energy infrastructure," said Yaroslav Demchenkov.
Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko has repeatedly emphasized that the war not only does not stop Ukraine's desire to make a "green" transition, but on the contrary, speeds up this process. Work continues on the decentralization of the energy system and the expansion of RES capacities and balancing systems.
