President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed laws that will promote the development of the defense industry, including the production of fiber-optic drones. The press service reports this Verkhovna Rada.
"In particular, exemption from customs duties on fiber optics for drones is provided, which will ensure favorable conditions for the production of unmanned systems," - the official statement says.
One law (draft law no.13305) amends the Customs Code of Ukraine and exempts from taxation goods for security and defense needs, in particular optical fibers and fiber-optic bundles, other fiber-optic cables, other optical, navigational and topographic devices and instruments used for defense purposes.
The second law (draft law no.13306) exempts imported fiber optics from value added tax. It exempts from value added tax the import of goods for defense purposes into the country's customs territory.
According to experts, these laws will allow:
- reduce the cost of unmanned systems that use optical cable for control and video signal transmission;
- to more quickly supply modern technical equipment to the Security and Defense Forces.
