The first festival was held in Odesa in Mark Twain Park MoreDogFest, dedicated to animals with special needs. Despite the rain, it gathered a huge number of participants who showed their favorites, took part in activities and united to support others.
There were several locations at the festival: from chipping, canister therapy and a zoo psychologist to the areas of Odesa shelters and the adoption center. For example, it was possible to meet special animals specially brought by volunteer Oksana Stanislavchyk. There are currently 35 dogs living in her shelter, most of them with disabilities.
Next to Oksana there is always a young shepherd dog, Dina, who moves around with a stroller. She survived a gunshot wound to the spine and major operations. Not far behind them is a small doll, which the owners brought to sprinkle after a road accident. Alf also got hit by a car: abandoned by his owners, he waited for help in the village for two weeks. Volunteers managed to pick him up.
"Despite all the horrors, these dogs have not lost their trust and love for people. Most of all, I was very pleased that there was so much attention for them at the festival - people are interested, they are surprised that they can care so much about unusual animals." Oksana shared.
The organizers of the festival are the "Trymay" charitable foundation. The initiative of Odessa volunteers was supported by public organizations "Animal SOS Odessa", "Special Youth of Ukraine" Foundation, "GrandDog Canine Center", Roycher and Josera companies.
The goal of the festival is to show that animals with special features are not only normal, but also beautiful.
"We broadcast how important it is to accept such animals in society and protect them. And of course, thanks to our guests and partners, we collected help for shelters. Two trucks with fodder have already gone to the shelters — all thanks to the donations of the participants of the event. And thanks to our partners, every participant of the festival received a nice gift" — adds the head BF "Keep" Yulia Fedorova.
The guests of the festival saw special animals and pets of shelters, performances of dog trainers, and also showed their pet four-legged friends. More than 100 furry and bald, small and huge, thin and fat, mixed-breed and purebred dogs took part in the parade together with their owners.
