In Lviv, Iryna Farion was attacked by a man who shot her in the head with a pistol without a silencer. The politician was hospitalized in serious condition and died a few hours later. Doctors said that her death was due to heart failure. Keeler, who tracked down his victim near her home, has still not been found.
Farion was waiting for a taxi to go to her daughter when the attacker shot her. She planned to leave Lviv for a short vacation, as she had not been on vacation for a long time. Iryna Farion was hospitalized at St. Panteleimon Hospital around 20:00 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head. At 22:50 p.m., the head of the anesthesia service of the First Medical Center of Lviv, Nataliya Matolinets, reported that Iryna Farion underwent primary head surgery and was transferred to the intensive care unit. Doctors continued to fight for her life.
"Around 20:00, patient Iryna Farion came to us with signs of an open, penetrating gunshot wound to the head. The condition is critical. Deep cerebral coma. Artificial ventilation of the lungs", Nataliya Matolinets said about the condition of the professor.
At 23:33 p.m., the head of the anesthesia service of the First Medical Center of Lviv reported that it was not possible to save Iryna Farion.
"Despite all the efforts of the doctors, despite all resuscitation measures, Irina Farion's life could not be saved. The patient died. My heart couldn't stand it. Medicine turned out to be powerless," — Nataliya Matolinets reported.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Telegram reported that the law enforcement officers continue to investigate the murder of ex-member of parliament Iryna Farion. All versions are considered, including the one "that leads to Russia".
The head of state noted that in the morning there were new reports from the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk regarding the investigation into the murder of Iryna Farion.
"All available surveillance cameras are being worked on, the interview of witnesses is ongoing, the territory of several districts is being surveyed. All versions are being investigated, including the one that leads to Russia." - said the president.
Zelenskyy emphasized that all the necessary forces of the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine are deployed to search for the criminal. The Minister of Internal Affairs, deputy prosecutors and heads of the National Police and SBU are in Lviv.

The National Police, after receiving information about the death of Iryna Farion, reclassified the crime to "intentional murder" under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under this article, punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years is provided.
In the case of the murder of Iryna Farion, the police are considering several possible versions, including personal enmity, her socio-political activities and the possibility of contract killing. The possibility of a "Russian trace" in this case is also being considered. Neighbors of the deceased said that the attacker had been waiting for her for 2-3 weeks. This is reported by Govorit Velikiy Lviv.
"For 2-3 weeks, (a person, — ed.) always sat near the entrance on a bench, steadily from morning to evening," — said a neighbor of Iryna Farion.
He said that the man always sat on a bench near the house. In particular, he dressed "interestingly". It was 40 degrees outside, and he was wearing sneakers, socks, sweatpants, a long sweater, a hat, and dark glasses.
According to Farion's neighbor, the man always sat cross-legged and looked at the entrance where the linguist lived.
