all

It will start from September 2025

The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 12076 on amendments to the Law "On Military Duty and Service". The decision was made at a meeting on January 9. About this informed people's deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

The decision was supported by 298 people's deputies.

According to him, there will be no mobilization of women.

"Undergoing basic military training for women will only be voluntary, and after that, being put on the military register will also be exclusively voluntary."

The document also states that from 2025, conscription will be abolished, and basic military training will be introduced instead. It should be noted that this type of service will be mandatory for men who are fit for service due to their health.

Basic training will start on September 1, 2025 and will take place:

  • for students of institutions of higher education — in the institutions themselves or institutions with specific study conditions that train police officers;
  • for citizens who for the first time plan to enter the civil service, service in local self-government bodies or the prosecutor's office, as well as for all those who want to - in the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Men between the ages of 18 and 25 can independently choose the year of passing the BVP, before they turn 24. Also, this draft law allows young men who are currently turning 18 abroad to register without coming to Ukraine.
