Ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and nine other former representatives of the power bloc will be tried for the shooting of the Heavenly Hundred. After the completion of the investigation of the biggest case of the Maidan, the indictment was sent to the court.
Members of a criminal group - former high-ranking officials - are accused of organizing the dispersal and shooting of demonstrators on February 18-20, 2014:
- President of Ukraine;
- Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
- Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
- head of the SBU;
- the first deputy head of the SBU - the head of the Anti-Terrorist Center;
- Minister of Defense of Ukraine;
- Head of the Main Directorate - Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
- Acting head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Ukraine in Kyiv;
- Deputy Chief of the State Security Service of Ukraine - Chief of the Public Security Police;
- commander of the Berkut Military Police at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Ukraine in Kyiv.
"On February 18-20, 2014, these persons gave orders and made decisions regarding the use of special means, military equipment, and firearms by law enforcement officers without appropriate grounds and in violation of the current legislation for forceful resistance and dispersal of demonstrators in the center of the capital and the termination of actions protest The officials organized the storming of the Maidan under the guise of an "anti-terrorist operation", and in the morning of February 20 they ordered the shooting of the demonstrators," the State Bureau of Investigation notes.
"This was done in excess of power, official authority, without any legal grounds," the Prosecutor General's Office emphasized.
