Traitors will be deprived of state awards - the law has been adopted

A deputy

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill № 11410, which provides for the deprivation of state awards for persons who have been convicted of serious crimes or for actions directed against the national security of Ukraine.

The draft law also concerns persons who promote the aggressor state or justify the occupation of Ukraine. The bill was supported by 283 deputies. The initiative was introduced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

As MP Iryna Gerashchenko noted, the document changes the norms of the Criminal Code and other legislative acts, allowing to deprive people who contribute to the popularization of aggression on the part of Russia. The list of state traitors who still have awards includes such figures as Yuri Boyko, Dmytro Tabachnyk, Mykola Azarov and Viktor Medvedchuk, among others.

Previously, awards could be revoked only by court order and only in the case of a serious crime. Now the draft law significantly simplifies the process of depriving persons who sided with the aggressor.

This decision is also intended to prevent the granting of benefits to traitors who, despite their role in treason, continue to receive social benefits as medal holders.
