More than 150 media persons from Ukraine and abroad appealed to the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech with a call for the dismissal of the head of communications of the Southern Defense Forces Natalya Humenyuk, the issue should be considered at the next meeting. This was reported by the head of the committee, People's Deputy Yaroslav Yurchyshyn on Facebook.
"More than 150 media persons, publications and associations appealed to the Committee on Freedom of Speech. Ukrainian and foreign journalists, photographers, fixers, cameramen and editors are demanding the dismissal of Natalya Humenyuk, head of communications of OK Pivden.
According to the media, their activities are hindered in this direction. Among the most egregious cases is insufficient coverage of the undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP by the Russians. Because of this, the world media looked for information about the destruction of the dam in the sources of enemy propaganda. It is also necessary to highlight our soldiers holding the front in the south and residents of these regions, who suffer from Russian shelling every day.
I fully support the idea that the safety of our military is the first priority. However, it is we who should provide the opportunity to highlight Russian crimes and exploits of our defenders. If we do not talk about the war, the enemy will tell the world about it. And providing information will definitely not be in our favor."
Yurchyshyn emphasized that the letter from more than 150 media persons cannot go without a reaction from the authorities. The issue is planned to be considered at the next meeting of the committee. Yurchyshyn says that he will suggest that colleagues contact the General Staff.
In turn, Mrs. Humeniuk denied statements made in the journalists' statement.
