Ukraine is ready to meet for talks with Russia. But before that, Moscow must confirm the ceasefire from May 12. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in Telegram.
The head of state called it a "good sign" that Russians are thinking about ending the war. He emphasized that the very first step in the real end of any war is a ceasefire.
Zelensky responded to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's offer of direct talks in Istanbul. The president said Ukraine was ready for meetings, but a ceasefire was needed first.
"There is no point in continuing the killings even for a day. We expect Russia to confirm a ceasefire — complete, lasting and credible — starting tomorrow, May 12, and Ukraine is ready to meet," Zelensky emphasized.
