President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that yesterday there was a battle for aviation, but today, thanks to the development of technologies, there is a choice where it is more important to invest money. The head of state said this during a conversation with journalists on June 13.
"Yesterday we were fighting for aviation. And today we have to make a choice - what is more important to us now: aviation or money for drones? And tomorrow this will pass, and something new will be found," the president said, giving an analogy while answering a question.
In particular, Zelensky was asked whether Europe understands that the US and China want to destroy the European Union. However, the president does not believe that the United States "needs to destroy" the EU.
He noted that he agrees that there are forces that want this. However, this does not mean that it will happen. The Head of State emphasized that the most attractive market is still the European one.
"Imagine that you are the USA. In addition to the fact that most of you have the same values, with the European Union, with the European market, with technologies and with people who are not poor, who are not potential migrants - old Europe with old money and production. Maybe not with such technologies as in modern America, but with its strengths of Europe. Why give this market to the gap?", — said the president.
He also suggested imagining what the EU would be like without Germany, or without France, or without Northern Europe.
"It seems to me that the European Union is strong because of this. There are different bureaucracies, rules, complexities, etc. - all under one roof. There is such a thing. But why does America need 30 countries to negotiate with if it can have relations with the European Union?", — the head of state added.
Returning to the remark about aviation and drones, the president noted that some in the United States believe that thanks to right-wing leaders in Europe, it is possible to influence the EU and receive benefits.
However, Zelensky emphasized that when Covid or war comes, new priorities appear, and benefits burn out.
"Therefore, what seems to some circles in America regarding the strength of the EU, and thanks to radical, right-wing leaders, to influence this strength of the European Union, that it will work for the sake of some benefits... These are benefits. Covid or war or something else just comes and all these benefits burn out and new priorities appear," — the Ukrainian leader summed up.
