Zelenskyi on the counteroffensive: We did not achieve what we wanted, but we are not retreating

However, Zelensky is focusing on the next stage

Ukraine did not achieve the desired results during the summer counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but the president emphasized that Ukraine is not backing down and that it needs help in increasing domestic weapons production. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in an interview AP News.

"Look, we are not retreating, I am satisfied. We are fighting with the second army in the world - I am satisfied. We are losing people - I am not satisfied. We didn't get all the weapons we wanted - I can't be happy, but I can't complain too much." said Zelensky.

He noted that during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces, the desired results were not achieved.

"We wanted to get faster results. From this point of view, unfortunately, we did not achieve the desired results. And this is a fact," — the head of state emphasized.

According to him, Ukraine did not receive all the weapons it needed from the allies, and limited forces do not allow a quick offensive.

"There is a lack of strength to achieve the desired results faster. But that doesn't mean we have to give up. We are confident in our actions. We are fighting for what belongs to us," — the president noted.

Zelensky explained that Ukraine did not receive all the necessary weapons from its allies, and the limited number of armed forces did not allow it to advance quickly.

However, according to him, certain positive results have been achieved over the past few months. Zelensky noted that Ukraine managed to achieve gradual territorial gains against a better armed and fortified enemy. In addition, the power of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation was reduced after the Ukrainian attacks, which broke through the air defense system and struck the headquarters of the occupiers in Crimea.

However, Zelensky is focusing on the next stage - increasing the domestic production of weapons.

A significant part of the Ukrainian budget is allocated for this, but the current results are far from sufficient to turn the tide of the war.

Zelensky hopes that Western allies, in particular the United States, will offer favorable loans and contracts to achieve this goal.

"This is the way out," said Zelenskyy, adding that nothing scares Russia more than a militarily self-sufficient Ukraine.
