This is Zelenskyi's first trip to Japan since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Japan today, May 20. He reported this in Telegram.

"Japan G7. Important meetings with partners and friends of Ukraine. Security and increased cooperation for our victory. Today, peace will be closer," he wrote.

This is Zelenskyi's first trip to Japan and Asia since the start of Russia's war against Ukraine in February last year.

The President will personally attend the meeting with the leaders of the Group of Seven countries in Hiroshima on Sunday, May 21, which will be held as part of the G7 summit.

As of CNN, in particular, in the city of Hiroshima, the head of state will meet with the leaders of the "Big Seven" countries (Germany, Great Britain, the USA, Canada, France, Italy and Japan).

The Japanese government reported that the Ukrainian President also plans to hold bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

The President of Ukraine is also scheduled to meet with the President of the United States in Japan. Biden has to announce about a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 375 million dollars after a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky at the G7 summit in Japan.

According to the media, his presence is aimed at gaining more support for Ukraine from the group of advanced economies, although the issue of Ukraine is one of the key items on the agenda of this year's summit.
