Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with European leaders, spoke with Trump on the phone. They discussed the talks between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, Ukrainian President's Press Secretary Serhiy Nikiforov told reporters.
According to him, the call with Trump was held by Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
"The talks in Istanbul were the main topic, yes," — said Nikiforov.
Zelensky himself confirmed negotiations with Trump.
"Ukraine is ready to take the fastest possible steps for the sake of the real world, and it is important that the world holds on to strong positions," — he emphasized.
The president added that the leaders' position is that if Russia refuses to cease fire and the killings continue, strong sanctions should be imposed on it. Pressure on Russia must be maintained until it is ready to end the war.
