President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They discussed the upcoming negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in Telegram and publication Haberturk.

According to the President of Ukraine, They discussed key details of the Ukraine-Russia meeting in Turkey with Erdogan. He thanked them for their support and willingness to promote diplomacy at the highest level.

Zelensky noted that the need for a ceasefire is currently important. It is also necessary for partners to ensure monitoring of the ceasefire.

"We are ready for direct negotiations with Putin. And it is very important that we all work together in Europe to ensure long-term security. We will be in constant contact with America. We agreed with President Erdogan to continue working together to ensure peace," - said Zelensky.

According to the President of Turkey, he supports the desire to end the war.

"Turkey has become a country whose mediation is in demand. At this stage, Russia-Ukraine-America and Europe agree to hold negotiations," — Erdogan said.

According to him, Turkey is the only country that has gained the trust of all parties.

Erdogan shared, that on May 11 he hadtelephone conversation withPutin. The Turkish President said that they discussed many important issues, including the end of the war.

Already On May 12, Erdogan held telephone talks with Zelensky. He stressed that Turkey is ready to become a mediator in peace negotiations.

“We have just held talks with Mr. Zelensky, the President of Ukraine. Last week, we also discussed this issue with Mr. Trump and talked about steps we could take to stop the bloodshed. We also support my dear friend Trump’s desire to resolve heated conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. According to the Turkish president, the parties were close to resolving the war in March 2022, but the efforts failed due to "interference by warlords."

"Russia, Ukraine and the United States have agreed to hold talks. As the only country that has won the trust of all parties, we have once again stated that we are ready to contribute to these talks and will be happy to host them. We hope that the opportunity we have seized this time will not be wasted," Erdogan added.
