"The procedure defines the procedure for automatically granting the status of a participant in hostilities to persons who, during the period of martial law, during direct participation in the measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, the protection of the safety of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, took participation in the performance of combat (service, special) tasks in the areas of military (combat) operations or in temporarily occupied territories." - said Melnychuk.
He informed that the status of participant in hostilities will be granted automatically to individuals, specified in the first paragraph of Clause 19 of Part One of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection" (except servicemen (reservists, conscripts) of the SBU and persons who are members of intelligence agencies) who participated in performance of combat (service, special) tasks in areas of military (combat) operations or in temporarily occupied territories, regardless of the duration of such tasks.
"The list, conditions and criteria of information to be entered into the Unified State Register of War Veterans to ensure the automatic granting of the status of a participant in hostilities have been determined." - clarified Melnychuk.
