The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, has not achieved any of his strategic goals in the war in Ukraine. And this despite almost 1000 days of fighting. This was announced by US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, writes Foreign Affairs.

"After almost 1000 days of war, Putin has not achieved any of his strategic goals. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, did not run away. Kyiv did not fall. And Ukraine did not give up," — he states.

Instead, according to the head of the Pentagon, Russia paid "a staggering price for Putin's imperial stupidity."

"Hundreds of thousands of Russian victims since February 2022 and more than 200 billion dollars have been wasted," — head of the defense department.

He cited data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, according to which Russia's losses in just the first year of the war exceeded Moscow's losses in all its conflicts since World War II combined.

"Ukraine suffered terribly at the hands of Putin. But, as I saw again in Kyiv last week, Ukraine is standing firm — and has even strengthened." - states the minister.
