How to end the war: Stoltenberg made an important statement

The fastest way to end a war is to lose it. But this will not bring peace, believes Jens Stoltenberg. The leader of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will not change his plans for Ukraine and winning the war, however, if the Armed Forces receive more weapons from the allies, it will make the dictator understand that he will not get what he wants.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in Brussels during the dialogue "Reflections on a Difficult Decade: A Farewell Conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg". transmits Interfax-Ukraine.

"We all want this war to end. The fastest way to end a war is to lose it. But this will not bring peace. It will bring Russian occupation. Today, President Putin believes he can achieve his goals on the battlefield. And he believes that he will be able to wait for us. That is why he continues to wage his brutal war." explained Stoltenberg.

He also emphasized that it is impossible to change Putin's opinion.

"But I believe we can change his calculations: by giving Ukraine more weapons, we can make Putin understand that he cannot get what he wants by force. And make it so expensive that he will have to accept Ukraine as a sovereign democratic state," — Stoltenberg said.

According to Stoltenberg, the more weapons the West can supply to Ukraine, the more likely it is to achieve peace and end the war.

"And the more reliable our long-term military support is, the sooner the war will end. As President Zelensky stated, Russia should become a part of future peace negotiations. The Minsk agreements after Russia's first invasion in 2014 did not bring peace. Any future agreement must be underpinned by strong military support for Ukraine and solid security guarantees to ensure lasting peace. There can be no sustainable security in Europe without a stable Ukraine," — he added.

Stoltenberg is also convinced that there can be "no solid security for Ukraine without NATO membership."

"NATO's doors are open. Ukraine will join," — he declared.
