In winter, power outages are possible in Ukraine according to schedules. Restrictions may apply depending on the weather and frost. This was reported by Yuriy Boyko, adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo briefing.
According to him, it is expected that this winter, regardless of possible shelling and their consequences, Ukraine will pass either without restrictions or with minimal restrictions at temperatures up to -5 degrees inclusive.
Also, a shortage of electricity in the system is expected if there will be a long time, namely three or more days, with temperatures of -10 degrees and below.
"Under such circumstances, the clearly existing park, taking into account the pace and schedule of restoration, and accordingly the imported resource, which was increased to 2100 megawatts just a week ago, will still not be enough. And on such critically cold days, we will still be accompanied by schedules of restrictions," — said Boyko.
According to his estimates, depending on the temperature in frosty weather, the lights will be turned off from one to three lines. At the same time, three turns — at very low temperatures.
"The only thing that must be understood, taking into account the statistics of recent winters, there were not many such days in the year. Unfortunately, today we have to take this factor into account. If before the war Ukraine's energy industry was ready for any temperature regime, today, unfortunately, as a result of large-scale damage and sometimes unavoidable destruction, we are weather-dependent. And therefore, in such scenarios, we will really face certain restrictions in electricity supply," — added the Prime Minister's adviser.
According to him, if we talk about "plan B", it was also last winter, and it is not much different from the point of view of the set of measures that must be taken.
