On September 13, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine arrested in absentia the former Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov, who is suspected of embezzling more than 450 million hryvnias that belonged to the state-owned enterprise "Ukraine Printing Plant". reported in the press service of SAP in Telegram.
"The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect. After the person is detained and delivered to the place of pre-trial investigation, the investigating judge will decide on the application of this preventive measure," the message read.
According to the investigation, in 2013 the former director of Polygraph Kombinat SE used a company under his control and registered in the Republic of Estonia for personal enrichment to purchase consumables for the production of documents, including passports for travel abroad. Instead of direct purchases from manufacturers, he used this company as an intermediary, inflating prices by 4-6 times. This allowed him to collect more than half a billion hryvnias in the accounts of the Estonian company, and then transfer these funds to the accounts of different companies registered in different countries, which ensured that their illegal origin was masked.
SAP did not name the high-ranking official, but journalist Oleg Novikov did reported that it is about the former Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov.
