State Bureau of Investigation exposed organized group that seized over 101 million UAH during purchases for the military. Suspicion was declared against officials of the Housing and Operations Department of Luhansk, which is currently part of the logistics forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and their accomplices. The criminals seized over 101 million UAH during purchases of firewood for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the SBI, the illegal scheme was organized by the former head of the Luhansk KEV. He involved two current officials of the unit stationed in Dnipro, a former KEV employee, and a private entrepreneur. The participants in the scheme organized the purchase of firewood for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at an inflated price, without an open bidding procedure, and under contracts with indirect suppliers.
The purchases were made through individual entrepreneurs whose accounts were under the full control of the scheme participants. In total, SBI employees identified 35 individual entrepreneurs whose accounts were involved in the transaction.
47 cases of overpriced procurements have been identified. The amount of damage caused to the state is over UAH 101 million.
Law enforcement officers conducted 28 searches, seized documents, computer equipment, and mobile phones.
Five members of the organized group were reported on suspicion of misappropriation of someone else's property through abuse of official position, committed repeatedly, under martial law, on a particularly large scale, as part of an organized group (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
