In the USA, there was a debate between the vice-presidential candidates, but Ukraine was not discussed

USA

In the United States of America (USA), a debate was held between the vice-presidential candidates Tim Walz (Democratic Party) and JD Vance (Republican Party). Among the topics was the situation in the Middle East, the economy in the country, but not Ukraine.

According to BBC writes it was a "relatively civilized" 90 minutes of discussion about:

  • migration;
  • economy;
  • abortions;
  • the situation in the Middle East.

The vice presidential candidates paid a lot of attention to immigration. Vance repeatedly returned to this issue, which is considered a weak point of Democrats. He was eventually muted after he started yelling at the moderators during fact-checking.

In general, the first question during the debate was about the escalation in the Middle East, but the most "hot" was about the right to abortion. Vance said he believes each state should make its own decisions. Walz, in turn, pushed for the restoration of the federal right to abortion.

In particular, this night, the vice presidential candidates commented on their controversial statements that they made in the past. For example, Vance admitted that he was wrong when he compared US presidential candidate Donald Trump to Hitler.
