In the German federal state of Hessen, Ukrainian men of conscription age will not be issued a document for traveling abroad. It replaces the foreign passport. It is reported D.W.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Hesse provided a corresponding response on July 31 to the request of the parliamentary faction of the right-wing populist party "Alternative for Germany".
"As a rule, the Hesse Department of Foreign Affairs will not issue German IDs to Ukrainian men of mobilization age, which replace documents for traveling abroad. They are able to go to Ukraine to obtain a passport and undergo military service," — the ministry notes.
About 20 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 live in Hesse. The ministry also added that encouraging men to return to Ukraine and participate in defense against Russian aggression is "understood interests of Ukraine."
It should be added that German travel documents can replace foreign passports and are issued to foreigners in special cases. They are issued to persons who can prove that they cannot obtain a passport or do not have one. Each such decision is made individually.
