US President Donald Trump announced that a large-scale prisoner exchange has been agreed between Russia and Ukraine, he wrote in Truth Social.
Trump became the first Western official to comment on the exchange, the preparation of which was agreed upon during talks in Istanbul.
"[Agreement on] a large-scale prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine has just been finalized," – the message of the US President says.
It should be noted that at the time of publication, neither the parties – neither Kyiv nor Moscow – had confirmed the fact that an agreement had been reached or the exchange had taken place.
"It will come into force in the near future. Congratulations to both sides on reaching this agreement. Could this be the start of something big?" – wrote the American president.
