Ukraine plans to reformat the EU assistance program — the Ukraine Facility — so that its implementation does not depend on votes in the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced during a conversation with journalists.
According to her, the program will be reformatted this year. The Ukraine Facility will be made more flexible and focused on the government's actions, not the votes of deputies.
"This way, we will not be dependent on the vote in the Verkhovna Rada. The government is ready to implement this plan, everyone is interested in it. We have an understanding with the European Commission in this direction," Svyridenko emphasized.
What is Ukraine Facility?
The Ukraine Facility is a special financial assistance program from the European Union for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros for 2024–2027. Its goal is to support the country's macroeconomic stability, ensure reconstruction and modernization, and accelerate the process of European integration.
The key condition for receiving funding is the implementation of the so-called "Ukraine Plan", which contains about 150 specific reforms and indicators. The implementation of each of them allows attracting an average of 350 to 600 million euros.
Funding is provided only on condition that agreed reforms are implemented and the principles of democracy and the rule of law are observed. That is, the volume and pace of receipt of funds directly depend on the decisions made by the Ukrainian Parliament.
