Ukrainians should keep a supply of drinking water and food at home for 7-12 days due to the threat of enemy shelling. At the same time, there is no need to buy food months in advance, since there is no shortage. This was stated by the head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in Kyiv, Anatoliy Katerenchuk, on the air of "News.LIVE«.
According to the official, the enemy regularly strikes not only critical infrastructure but also logistics depots. Because of this, the situation can change dramatically on any given day.
To ensure autonomous life at home, it is necessary to have a moderate untouchable supply of:
- drinking water: availability is mandatory, and the volume is calculated individually depending on the daily needs of each person;
- Food: a set of basic daily foods for 7-12 days.
"Of course, you don't need to chaotically and panic-buy products for a month or more. They have their expiration dates, so you need to monitor not only the quantity, but also the quality," — emphasized Katerenchuk.
There is no point in building up large stocks of cereals or other basic goods. Ukraine is consistently among the top 10 global producers of grain crops, so domestic stocks are quite sufficient.
"We do not have and will not have a shortage of products. Even if a product temporarily disappears from the shelves, it will always be replaced by imports from another country. The Russian Federation is working to create panic and chaos so that people are distracted from life's issues," — explained the head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
Katerenchuk explained that in order for food to not spoil and be safe for health, it is important to follow storage conditions.
"We are not tied to anything in particular, we understand that if it is meat products, it must be stored at the appropriate temperature. If it is some kind of cereal, it must also be stored in the appropriate place," he noted.
The Head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection added that packaged factory-made food products have an expiration date and storage conditions.
He noted that the place for storing cereals or sunflower oil should be cool, dark, and definitely dry. At the same time, cereals should be stored in an airtight container.
