Ukraine and Poland will launch single checkpoints

A single checkpoint will significantly speed up border crossing

Ukraine and Poland plan to simplify the procedure for crossing the border by introducing single checkpoints between the countries.

Such a decision has already been agreed, but it is still necessary to prepare the final version of the text of the document and go through the process of ratification by both parties.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhii Derkach announced this in an interview on the Rise Ukraine platform. Read what this means for ordinary Ukrainians.

Now, in order to cross the border, you must first go through a Ukrainian checkpoint, and then a Polish one.

This process takes about an hour, during peak customs or system failures, people stand at the border until ten o'clock.

In practice, this is not very convenient, because if there is a queue, then you must first stand it to the Ukrainian checkpoint, go through all the formal procedures, including baggage inspection, and then repeat all this once again for the Polish border guards.

A single checkpoint will significantly speed up border crossing. After all, the control will be carried out only by one country.

"That is, colleagues from Poland, for example, will be on our territory, and it will be one trip. Or our colleagues will be on the territory of Poland. This will significantly speed up the process," noted Serhii Derkach.

The countries will soon determine the first checkpoints where a single border will be introduced. They want to introduce a similar procedure with Hungary and Slovakia.
