Ukraine and Canada have signed an agreement on joint production of defense products, the Canadian Prime Minister announced during a joint press conference with President Zelensky in Kyiv.
During a joint press conference, Zelensky emphasized that one of the key areas of cooperation with Canada will be the production of drones.
"There are important signed documents, there are clear agreements, a plan for the actual implementation of the security agreement between our countries... The priority is drones for the front, because there is a significant funding deficit and the need to significantly increase their supply," said the president.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that drone production will be located in both Canada and Ukraine, and it is already beginning: "There are certain military arguments for confidentiality and secrecy, but I can say that we are conducting these negotiations for a very long time and in detail. Both in Canada and in Ukraine, this production will be located nearby, and it can start right now."
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, in turn, reported that the defense agreement was signed in the presence of President Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Carney. On the Canadian side, the agreement was signed by Minister of National Defense David McGuinty.
Shmyhal emphasized that the agreements will allow Ukrainian companies to more easily enter the Canadian market, promote the exchange of technologies, and help provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons and military equipment in the long term.
