Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna stated that on February 3, the Ukrainian side officially submitted to the US State Department a detailed list of all Russian attacks after the Russian Federation announced its "agreement" to stop strikes on energy. Separately, information on the consequences of the night shelling, prepared in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy, was provided.
Stefanishyna announced this during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of Ukrainian Week in Washington, a correspondent for "Suspilny" reports.
"The embassy today provided the State Department with very detailed information about all the shelling that has occurred since the announcement of Russia's so-called "agreement" to a ceasefire. Separately, the results of the night attack," she emphasized.
According to the ambassador, these materials should directly affect the negotiation process, as they demonstrate Russia's failure to fulfill its own statements. She expressed hope that the US will choose an approach of "less illusions, more pressure."
Stefanishyna also noted that a key area of work for the Ukrainian delegation in Washington will be lobbying for sanctions bills against countries that continue to buy Russian energy resources. Currently, at least three such initiatives have been registered in both chambers of Congress.
According to her, all bills have bipartisan support, and the work is focused on finalizing the texts and “mobilizing political will” to put them to a vote. Even on sensitive issues of tariff policy, the parties have already managed to find compromises.
As a reminder, on January 29, US President Donald Trump announced that he had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to temporarily halt the shelling of Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure amid a sharp cold snap. According to him, the pause was to last one week.
At the same time, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov saidthat Moscow allegedly agreed to stop the strikes only by February 1.
The so-called "energy truce" began on January 30, but on the night of February 3, Russian troops launched massive strikes on energy facilities in several regions of Ukraine. As a result of the shelling, many Ukrainians were left without heating during severe frosts.
