Ukraine has received Patriot systems from Germany. Negotiations on further strengthening the country's air defense are ongoing. About this said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
"We have strengthened the Patriot component of our Ukrainian air defense. I thank Germany and personally Chancellor Friedrich Merz for this joint step to protect lives from Russian terror," — he emphasized.
The President noted that the countries had been preparing this strengthening of air defense for some time, and now the agreements have been fulfilled.
"Russian air strikes are Putin's main bet in this war, it is through terror that he wants to compensate for the inability to achieve his crazy goals on the ground," — said Zelensky.
The Ukrainian leader added that every strengthening of air defense brings Ukraine closer to ending the war. He emphasized that the less the aggressor country is allowed to do, the “greater its motive will be to end the war.”
"Together with our partners, we continue to work on building a reliable air defense system. And our capabilities will be able to guarantee the security not only of Ukraine, but also of our partners, when necessary," — the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky noted that negotiations on further strengthening air defense are ongoing. They are taking place both at the government level and directly with system manufacturers.
Germany announced its intention to transfer Patriot systems from the Bundeswehr warehouses to Ukraine in early August 2025, including two systems. The delivery was made with financial support from Denmark, Lithuania, and Norway.
