North Korea has developed its own HIMARS rocket system

An analogue of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system was shown in the DPRK at a parade

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has developed its own HIMARS rocket system. According to "Military", an analogue of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system was shown in the DPRK at a parade.

The relevant photos were published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). It is noted that the launcher is placed on a three-axle truck chassis of an unknown model, with two launch cells.

Military notes that the exact caliber of the rocket system is still unknown, but upon closer inspection, two separate "packages" are visible: on one side, 9 guides, probably for 240 mm missiles, and next to them, for a ballistic missile, possibly of the Hwasong 11 type.

Another installation of the same type had a "package" of probably 122 mm rockets in the amount of up to 20 in the guides.

"So, Pyongyang has demonstrated a direct analogue of the American system — both in terms of the modular launcher and the chassis," — the portal notes.

At the same time, instead of one launch section, North Korean designers created a version with two, which brings it closer in terms of fire capabilities to tracked multiple launch rocket systems of the M270/MLRS type.

It is emphasized that this development trend "clearly demonstrates that for the Korean defense-industrial complex, the main models are the equipment of the United States and European countries, which is evident from the similar concept implemented in new developments."
