In the Kyiv region, the police suspect five employees of the Gostomel settlement military-civilian administration of embezzling funds for the reconstruction of housing destroyed by the Russians. About this reported the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the report, among the suspects are the ex-deputy head of the Gostomel settlement of the VCA, the former head of the department and three of its employees.
They signed a number of contracts with a contractor, but the owners of private houses completed the restoration work at their own expense.
The National Police said that for the restoration of residential buildings damaged as a result of military operations of the Russian military in the spring of 2022, the administration concluded a number of direct contracts with a fictitious enterprise that supposedly specializes in repair and residential construction.
The estimate of these deals ranged from UAH 100 to UAH 500. In total, the company received over 6 million hryvnias from the budget to its accounts.
The contractor had to restore dozens of buildings damaged by the Russian army in a matter of months - replacing the roof, windows, facade, etc. However, the officials entered into the records of the completed works information about their volumes and costs, which did not correspond to reality, after which they signed the documents.
As a result, the affected owners of private homes completed the restoration work at their own expense.
As of today, only six agreements concluded from February to May 2023 amount to UAH 650.
The police officers are investigating the involvement of those involved in more than 40 episodes of illegal activity. According to preliminary estimates, the amount of damages may reach tens of millions of hryvnias.
During searches of the office premises and residences of the suspects in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the police seized 150 dollars, official documentation of financial and business activities, seals, computer equipment, cars, mobile phones and "draft" records.
