British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the dissolution of parliament and early elections to be held on Thursday, July 4. This happened after his conversation with King Charles III. It is reported Sky News.
"Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future. Decide if we want to build on the progress we've made or risk going back to the beginning without a plan or confidence." Sunak said.
According to him, the elections will take place at a time when the world is becoming more dangerous than it was after the end of the Cold War.
He called the war in Ukraine as a key "risk", as well as the "forces of Islamist extremism" in the Middle East, which threaten global security.
Note that many call 2024 the year of major elections. After all, for the first time in history, elections will be held at once in more than 70 countries.
