The US President's Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has been removed from high-level talks to end the war, citing Moscow's dissatisfaction with his pro-Ukrainian stance. NBC News.
A representative of the US presidential administration and a high-ranking Russian official told the publication that Vladimir Putin considered Kellogg to be too “pro-Ukrainian.” For this reason, the Russian side raised the issue of his exclusion from the negotiation process.
"Kellogg is a former American general, he is too close to Ukraine. He is not the kind of person we are ready to see at the negotiating table," a Russian official said.
A Trump administration official confirmed that Moscow had protested Kellogg's participation, but he could not say when the White House was informed of the demand.
At the same time, National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt said that Kellogg remains "a valuable part of the team, especially when it comes to negotiations with European allies."
NBC News noted that Kellogg did not participate in the talks between the Russian and US delegations in Riyadh on February 18.
